Yin Yang – History and Representation (II)

Representation

The great contribution of traditional Chinese medicine to the health of humanity is his vision of man as a microcosm that plays in small natural laws of the universe. By understanding this reality and describe the energetic activity of the body, the ancient Oriental physicians were able to devise practices to conserve and restore the physical and mental wellbeing.

So they started to describe the vital energy which they called Chi, and a series of channels through which this energy circulates enabling the various functions. Acupuncture, ear acupuncture and acupressure are splendid therapies based on these principles.Japanese medicine, despite having their own base, was influenced by the Chinese about the sixth century AD. Based on these ancient principles, the Japanese version were also calling Ki energy, which are known as complementary polarities of Yin and Yang. The modern Japanese Shiatsu, heir to an ancient massage called Anma, reflects this system.

The foundation of acupuncture rests mainly on:

- The Theory of Meridians.
- The Yin-Yang ..
- The Five Elements.
