The Practice of Qi Gong -part 3-
The practice of Qi Gong: posture, movement and breathing
In Qi Gong, meditation or immobile postures combined with breathing practice and enforcement of gestural movements. Ideally, start with the vertical position for half an hour or more and then chaining different exercises. The postures and gestures are varied. Can be cascaded to form continuous movement sequences. The important thing is to get into the flow of energy-consciousness, which is the essence of this body art.
The basic exercise for maintaining health is the standing posture, zhan zhuang, is to stay right, feet parallel and well anchored on the floor, making sure that separation of the feet is equivalent to the distance of the shoulders. The back is straight, neck straight and chin slightly entered. The shoulders are relaxed, sit-down. The pelvis should be well centered on the axis so as not to block the flow of qi in the lower back. The stretcher relaxes and imagine a vertical line that runs through the middle of his body from the fontanelle to the midpoint of the feet through the first dan tian. Let the force of gravity operating on him, without resistance. It must work the feeling of being at once “magnetized by the earth” and “sucked into the sky.”
By standing still, in the correct posture, the qi begins to move within, flowing through multiple channels and releasing the obstacles in its path. The mere fact stand upright, to drop the weight in the heels, allowing a deep relaxation of the diaphragm, which increases the breathing capacity. Over time, this exercise enables the gradual elimination of accumulated physical and emotional stresses. The more one practices more energy pathways are cleared and the greater the internal flow of qi.
The Qi Gong breathing is steady and calm. Is synchronized with the movements that are running. By staying in the right attitude, breathing is deep and effortless. Breathing exercises can regulate and collect the qi, harmonizes the blood circulation and calm the spirit. Previously, Chinese teachers placed a feather under the nostrils of the student to check the status of your breath. If the pen did not move meant that the student had brought its breath, which was in communion with the subtle breath of the hundred thousand beings with the immensity of the universe. Calm and relaxed standing in the way of Dao.
The Benefits of Practicing of Qi Gong
One of the benefits of the practice of Qi Gong is the release of energy that was put on hold because of tensions of various kinds. The energy released is used, first, to repair the physical imbalances. As you practice, the qi circulates better through different channels, promoting the circulation of the sangre4, progressively eliminating toxins and seeking an improvement in the respiratory system and the functioning of the body. Gradually, the body regains its balance, mineralized bones, muscles and tendons and relaxed tone, strengthens the nervous system. Increases the immune response, the ability to withstand adverse physical conditions and situations better.
4 According to a principle of Chinese medicine where there is qi, the blood goes. While traveling through different channels, there is a close relationship between them. The qi leads the blood and the blood nourishes the qi. If there is an imbalance between the qi and blood can result in dizziness, eye disease and even heart problems.
The Qi Gong activates the parasympathetic circuit that part of the autonomic nervous system, together with the sympathetic system, acting independently of consciousness and the will to regulate various functions such as circulatory and digestive gland secretion, smooth muscle, the metabolism or operation of internal organs. While the sympathetic system activates the body preparing it to respond to situations of danger or emotional overload, the parasympathetic promote healing and energy economics. Seems clear that people who suffer emotional trauma or long periods of stress are prone to disorders of the organs and functions of the autonomic nervous system dependent. The Qi Gong, to stimulate the parasympathetic portion of the reset. Allows the brain to relax, try to effective digestion, sleep, improves the circulatory system and promotes the secretion of glands. As you advance in practice the amount of energy available is increasing and can be used to carry out other activities. This helps to slow the aging process as treaties assert Qi Gong since ancient times.
Scientific studies show that the practice of Qi Gong improves memory and mental clarity. Exercise helps to pay attention to every gesture and movement. This increases the ability to concentrate and live the present moment. Through practice, it raises the spirit, shen. The person is in harmony with Heaven and Earth, is the hub of union between these different levels. Not only healthy body but the spirit is refined.
