The basil is an herb that has many medicinal type applications. This species, known by the scientific name of Ocimum basilicum, is well known in countries with warm climate. This plant is branched and has type leaf buds form. The most characteristic feature of the basil is an intense aroma and pungent perfume. The basil is used in different parts of the world to add aroma and flavor to all kinds of culinary preparations.
The heyday of the basil is concentrated in the summer months. Benefits for all the properties we can use the basil leaves from the plant in its raw state or previously dried. In the chemical composition of basil have to mention a few compounds such as cineole, eugenol, linalool and meticavicol. Some of the most important medicinal properties of basil are the digestive remedy, sedative, appetizer, spasmolytic and antitussive effect grass. Although not very frequent, basil also supports external applications to treat eczema and all types of wounds.
Some of the most widespread forms of preparation for the basil are in tincture form or essence. The basil-based infusion is prepared with a 5g of fresh leaves per cup of water to be prepared. You must add a few drops of lemon and a natural sweetener to improve the final taste a little of this preparation. The essence of basil, however, should be taken about 3 drops per day (divided into 3 doses). It is important not to exceed these doses under any circumstances (as this can create unwanted effects). This herb can also be exploited in powder form (especially to cause sneezing of a person).
