Injuries and Chinese Medicine

The martial arts professionals are well aware of a basic axiom: correct practice leads to a decreased risk of injury. Unfortunately, the ingredients that are part of the mechanism of injury are very difficult to control stress, fatigue, previous injury, environmental conditions, age.
With regard to martial arts practitioner or other sports, injuries resulting from its practice can be perfectly treated by acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine and Tui Na. In most treatments, the combination of the three techniques can increase the overall therapeutic effect. In general, injuries resulting from the practice are of a minor and, between them, we might venture that would be the most common type of muscle – muscle fiber breaks – or tendon and bone and joint – mostly sprains and dislocations.
At the level of injuries affecting muscle tissue, perhaps the most famous is the so-called “fiber breakage”. Depending on the extent of the injury – can be a millimeter injury to a muscle tears several inches total – the prognosis for recovery ranging from few days to several weeks. After the first days of the injury, acupuncture – supported by electro stimulation on many occasions – promote the reabsorption of edema and, therefore, have an important anti-inflammatory and analgesic action.
A preparation phytotherapy absolutely safe but not marketed in our country, Yunnan Bai Yao or “Yunnan White Medicine”, can reduce inflammation by lowering the ratio of tissue destruction that occurs especially in the time immediately following the injury. This preparation, which consists mainly of the root of the plant Panax not ginseng – has nothing to do with the therapeutic level Ginseng – Known effects on healing as well as bleeding, widely used at most of the world to treat injuries especially of sport.
