Drug Rehab Provides Both Physical and Social Treatment
Most modern drug rehab procedures are built around psycho-therapeutic and medical treatments that are provided in well orchestrated stages, maximizing the benefit to the patient. For many, the detoxification stage of drug rehab is the most unpleasant part of the process. In most cases, the addict cannot avoid undergoing this unpleasant part of the addiction treatment and recovery process because his or her body is well beyond the casual use stage of substance abuse.
This is especially true in alcohol treatment, where the addicts medical condition has deteriorated significantly due to the basic addiction. At this stage, no other rehab methods are usually attempted until complete detoxification has been completed first. Recovery for a patients that required detoxification, usually need more medical attention than others, as the treatment progresses.
Generally, substance abuse rehab concentrates on removing the patient from the addictive atmosphere and surroundings that induce failure. In cases where the normal living areas bring the addict in contact with this element of society on a daily basis, residential rehab is usually stressed or highly recommended in these types of rehab cases. Inpatient Rehab has a much higher rate of success when the addicted patient suffers from surroundings or peer pressure that are as strong or stronger than the rehabilitation influences that are working in constant aggression with this outside stimulus.
