Cracked Heels – Answering Myths of Cracked Heels

While many people have suffered from mild to severe cracked heels for ages, some myths associated with the causes and remedies come out to the surface. Some are fact, while others are rooted from personal experience and have no medical foundation. Learning these myths will enable you select carefully what treatment should be applied to treat the cracks on heel.

One persistent myth about this heel problem is that the application of super glue will be perfect to treat the symptoms. It is said that the super glue has promising features in closing the fissures and sealing the opening from further infection. While super glue is nontoxic in small doses, most doctors and podiatrist are not in favor of using this retail grade glue to be inserted in the cracks and fissures in your heels.

Also, it is said that you can remove the thickened, mounted skin by cutting the area. The fact is that this practice involves some hazards in terms of hygiene of the cutting tools. Moreover, if you cut through the skin accidentally, you can aggravate the symptoms and open wider gate for infection to invade your skin. This is a reason why you should avoid razor and other cutting tools to scrape off the calluses.

Most importantly, you should seek for a professional help to handle the issue of cracked heels properly for your own health.
