Aromatherapy in Everyday Life -part 3-
Essential oils are very complex substances
Today, the progress of science has allowed us to analyze the chemical components of essential oils with great precision. Accordingly, we have a thorough understanding of the molecular composition of essential oils. An essential oil contains many complex chemical bodies.
These are different molecular combinations have different properties. Thus, the structure of an essential oil is very complex and always has, not just once but many therapeutic properties.
In contrast to chemically synthesized drugs that only have one isolated active ingredient, essential oils, as complex, are opportunities for synergy and potentiation which allow for individualized therapy. In addition, the chemical composition of essential oil depends on many factors directly related to the living conditions of the plant, that is, its country of origin, climate, altitude, where he grew up, the composition of the earth, sun exposure etc.
For example, there are many essential oils of thyme (Thymus vulgaris). Some will have greater presence of the chemical compound thymol (primarily anti-infective properties), other thuyanol component (bactericidal, virucidal and neurotonica) or carvacrol (antiseptic). Each has different applications. This classification is called chemical chemotype (CT).
Therefore one must be careful when choosing an essential oil.
How to choose an essential oil quality
We must learn to read the label carefully. To avoid confusion it is essential to find the Latin name. Do not, for example, simply buy thyme essential oil within the family because of thyme are mastichina Thymus, Thymus satureioides, Thymus serpyllum, Thymus vulgaris Linaloliferum (CT lineola), Thymus Vulgaris Geranioliferum (Geraniol CT) and many more.
Therefore, you should choose first the oil is needed according to their properties, taking into account their chemical composition and noting its Latin name. For this reason, it is necessary to buy a good handbook of aromatherapy, or you can research online.
Next, make sure that essential oils are of good quality, its effectiveness will depend. It is best to buy them from reputable laboratories that can provide detailed reports on the chemical composition and origin of each oil.
Finally we must verify the following:
The essential oil should be 100% pure and natural
The label must indicate the origin of the product, lot number and expiration date
You must be packaged in a dark airtight container to preserve the qualities of the product
At first this may seem a bit complicated. But with minimal training and practice, the use of essential oils can be very simple. To assist in their exploration on aromatherapy, then we provide a series of articles and reports on essential oils and their uses. Then they can experience the wonder of this therapy to help them in their quest for a healthier life and natural.
